welcome to the practice jazz jams group!

The novice practice jams have a different setlist each week, located at either the Vortex Jazz Club in Dalston or 9M Studios near Elephant and Castle.

(If you have prior experience playing at jazz jams or ensembles, you may also be interested in joining the 3 hour "novice+" sessions, or sessions with the Vortex Collective - see https://www.meetup.com/vortex-collective-for-jazz. To join these sessions, please first join any of the upcoming weekend open jam sessions (come early), so that I can get a sense of your playing.)

Instrument availability | Please always check at the top of the event description to see if the spots are already full for the instrument you'd like to play. If you're unsure, please message me. Vocalists - please message me directly before joining any session.

Signing up | After checking the top of the description that your instrument is not full, please sign up to confirm you spot. New sessions usually go up on Wednesdays, every fortnight. Sometimes the places can fill up quickly. If you are struggling to get a spot, please send me a message and I'll try to sort something out.

Cancellation | Please try to make it to any session you sign up to, as the jams are organised around a particular mix of instruments. But if something urgent comes up and you can no longer make a session, please let me know asap. Places are non-refundable, but if you provide over 1 week notice it may be possible to carry over the fee for a future session.

If you'd like to get to know others in the group, please come to the "afternoon open jams". There is also a whatsapp group for regular attendees.

Finally, if you receive a message from me on meetup, please do not reply directly by email. I only receive replies sent directly in the app or website.
