Sirāt on Wednesday 13.5 at 17.45 at Kino Světozor
Details
Hi everyone!
Join us on Wednesday, May 13th, for a screening of Sirāt at Kino Světozor. The film begins at 18:00.
You’ll find me (wearing a bright pink/flowery scarf) outside the Světozor Third Hall (where the movie is projected – downstairs, right side, ie the side of the box office) from 17.45.
The 2025 movie, directed by Galician filmmaker Óliver Laxe (O que arde), follows ‘Luis (Sergi López) and his son Esteban [on their] journey through southern Morocco searching for Luis’s missing daughter, Mar, who vanished months ago, last seen attending a remote dance party in the desert. They join a group of thrill-seekers bound for an even deeper desert rave, turning their quest into a haunting, existential odyssey’ (here).
An example of Laxe’s ‘transcendental and sensorial cinema’ and featuring a cast of mostly amateur actors and real-life ravers, the movie has received numerous accolades, particularly for its production value. Among others, it won the Cannes Film Festival Jury Prize (top-joint) in 2025 and earned a nomination for Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards.
Come enjoy this screening and stay for a drink and a chat about the film afterward!
If you’d like to join us, please purchase your own ticket here. I will be sitting in row 4 seat 5.
Kind request: if you register to attend but are unable to join, please change your RSVP accordingly.
Hope to see you there!
