Tetín, one of the oldest and most fascinating villages in Bohemia.
🌲 Walk from Srbsko (train stop) to Tetín
A peaceful and picturesque walk through the landscape of the Bohemian Karst, with limestone cliffs, forest paths, and views over the Berounka River.
🏛️ Visit to Tetín
Tetín is a village steeped in legend and history:
Associated with the mythical priestess Teta, daughter of Duke Krok, who upheld the pagan traditions of early Bohemia.
Site of the tragic death of Saint Ludmila, grandmother of Saint Wenceslaus, in the 10th century.
Home to three historic churches, castle ruins, and scenic viewpoints (“Tetínské vyhlídky”) offering panoramic vistas.
We’ll take time to explore these sites, reflect on the blending of pagan and Christian legacies, and enjoy thepeaceful surroundings.
🍽️ Walk to Beroun + Lunch
After our visit to Tetín, we’ll walk down to the town of Beroun (approx. 45 minutes). There we will have a shared lunch or café stop at a local spot. In my view, Beroun is a charming town.
🚆 Return to Prague
We'll return to Prague by train in the late afternoon or early evening.

What is Bohemian Karst?
The Bohemian Karst (in Czech: Český kras) is a protected landscape area located southwest of Prague, in the Central Bohemian Region. It’s known for its dramatic limestone formations, caves, gorges, and fossil-rich terrain—a natural gem of geological and ecological importance.
🏞️ Key Features of the Bohemian Karst:
Limestone Geology: The area is primarily composed of Devonian limestone, shaped over millions of years by erosion and underground rivers, creating features typical of karst landscapes like sinkholes, cliffs, and caves.
Koněprusy Caves: The most famous cave system in the region, with stunning stalactites, archaeological finds, and evidence of prehistoric human activity.
Karlštejn Castle: One of the Czech Republic’s most iconic castles, built by Emperor Charles IV in the 14th century. While not directly on our Tetín route, it sits within the Bohemian Karst area.
Diverse Flora and Fauna: The region supports many rare plant and animal species, especially in the dry rocky hills and forested ravines.
🌿 Why It Matters for Our Trip:
When we walk from Srbsko to Tetín, we’ll be traveling through part of this striking karst landscape — think steep valleys, cliffside views, fossils underfoot, and an ever-changing natural tapestry that has inspired legends and history alike.
