Prague's Newest SciFi Book Club (English-language)
Details
This month's read is Recursion by Blake Crouch, a science-fiction thriller about a neuroscientist, Helena, who invents a technology to relive memories, and a detective, Barry, who investigates a phenomenon called False Memory Syndrome (FMS), where people gain memories of lives they never lived. The two must work together to stop a time-travel device, the "chair," from destroying reality, a process that involves reliving the same timeline over and over and creating catastrophic memory paradoxes.
Our new SF book club will discuss the characters, the unique mechanics of time travel, the relationship between love and memory, and the philosophical implications of reliving life.
If time allows, we can also briefly discuss last month's book pick, Mindstock by author and co-host, Richard Yonck.
