TGIF Bike & Swim at Lhota
Details
Join me for a day at the Lhota lake this Friday. It’s a former sand quarry turned popular beach destination east of Prague – not too shabby a place to spend a hot summer day. It gets super crowded on weekends, which is why I go during the week.

LOGISTICS
We’ll meet around 10.06AM at the train station Praha – Horni Pocernice (see Transportation Details below). That's when the 9.51 train from Masarykovo nadrazi arrives. We’ll cycle about 20K to the lake. The trail is flat, mostly asphalt or nice gravel.
At the lake, besides the sunny sandy areas, there are pine trees that provide plenty of shade. You can buy cold drinks and basic snacks (hot dogs, deep fried stuff etc.) on site, but I like to bring my own supplies :) Admission is 60 CZK, bikes free of charge.
When we’ve had enough beach fun, we’ll ride to Celakovice. It’s 15K, mostly on forest paths. We can have a late lunch/early dinner afterwards, but I’m not booking anything in advance to stay flexible.
Trains back to Prague run every 20-30 minutes.

TRANSPORTATION DETAILS
The best way to get to Horni Pocernice, other than riding your bike, is by train. Here’s some additional info on train connections:
– Take train Os 5819 (S2 line) that leaves at 9.51 from Masarykovo nadrazi (you can also board the same train at 9.58 at Praha-Vysocany, if that’s more convenient).
– Bring your Litacka/Opencard. Horni Pocernice is still in Prague, so you won’t have to pay anything for yourself or your bike. If you don't have a Litacka, buy a 24 CZK ticket and stamp it in a yellow validator box (like those on trams and metro) before boarding the train.
– When boarding the train, use the very first or the very last door. There are designated compartments there where you can comfortably travel with your bike.
