Philosophy Seminar: Jean-Paul Sartre's theory of relationships
Details
Our dear friend Albert known to many of you by the famous Prague's Cafe Philo is kindly going to give us a talk about Jean-Paul Sartre and his theory of love and relationships.
In his book Being and Nothingness, Sartre gives a fascinating, thought-provoking description and explanation of basic human relationships. We will take a glimpse at some of his key ideas in a short presentation.
Even though Sartre’s terminology may seem at times very abstract, it deals with topics which concern all of us and hopefully will lead to animated discussion.
You don’t need to read anything as a preparation for the meeting, everything relevant will be presented on the spot. If you are curious, you may read the article in Wikipedia about Jean-Paul Sartre's Being and Nothingness. Curiosity is one of the forms of want, which, according to Sartre, is the essence of being human. If you are missing something, feeling the lack of something, you are on the right track for our discussion…

Like many of our past reading events and discussions, the seminar will take place at the living room of our friend Justin. Everyone is welcome to join. We’ll have a bottle of wine, some flavored water, tea, and light snacks for Sunday. Please feel free to bring any drink or snack you’d like to share!
Also, we’ve got a very friendly, well-trained dog who will be happy to see all of you. The name on the buzzer is McCandless, Mainous, and Everett – take the elevator to the 5th floor and it’s the door immediately to the left.
