We will discuss two very short stories by Anton Chekhov: The Student and Gooseberries.

The first was apparently Chekhov's own favorite story of his, and is a reflection on the continuity of human suffering and joy across the ages, and asks in what way the past stays with us.

The second is part of a trilogy and revolves around questions of how happy we can be when that happiness is based upon self-satisfaction.

Together, the stories will help us discuss broader questions of happiness in our lives and how it can be achieved.

We will meet at L'Objet Trouvé near the Veletržní Palác. I look forward to seeing you there!
