DEMOS Dialogue: On Civic Engagement

All across the globe, civic life is shifting: trust in institutions is in steep decline, voter turnout ebbs and flows, and many people feel disconnected from the decisions that shape their communities.

• Can we rebuild a sense of collective responsibility and restore civic participation?
• What sort of duties, if any, do we have toward others?
• Why not simply focus on our own affairs — career, finances, personal life, and entertainment?

Agora Network invites you to participate in an evening of dialogue centered around exploring what civic engagement means today — for democratic politics, community life, and personal responsibility. We’ll be using the DEMOS Dialogue methodology: a structured, facilitated conversation designed to move beyond debate and into genuine exchange.

The DEMOS model is built on a simple but powerful idea: that people with different perspectives and lived experiences can think together — not to reach consensus, but to understand each other more honestly. No speeches, no winning arguments. Just real conversation.

What to expect:

• A welcoming, low-pressure atmosphere open to anyone curious about civic life, regardless of background or level of involvement
• Facilitated small-group dialogue using the DEMOS method
• Reflection on themes of voice, responsibility, and what it means to participate in shared civic life
• Whether you vote in every election or have never voted before, your perspective matters. This event is for anyone willing to listen as much as they speak.
