Prague Walk & Watercolor combines a classic history walking tour, followed by a step-by-step painting workshop, to make your own souvenir of a classic Prague landmark.
I'm Mel, a Prague tour guide and artist, and Prague Walk & Watercolor is my passion project. Prague is a gorgeous city, which inspired me to pick up painting after I first moved here from the US in 2015. Meanwhile, being a tour guide over the years (since 2017) has really helped me appreciate how the history of Prague is inextricable from it’s streets and architecture - no matter where you are, clues of that history are scattered around you. Capturing the beauty and intrigue of that history is no easy feat artistically, but over time I discovered a relaxing style of watercolor that allows me to express my Prague, and I want to bring that joy to others.
My whimsical style in watercolor is really fun and relaxing to paint, without the stress of hyper-realism or strong technical skills. It’s a flexible style that can accommodate all skill levels, and customizable so that each participant in my workshops will walk away with a painting that is unique to them. We create the same painting together, but no two will be exactly the same. I will guide you step-by-step through the techniques you need to to express yourself, you will walk away with a unique memory that you can hang on your wall.
Prague Walk & Watercolor is both a tour or an art workshop, but it's more than the sum of it's parts. It's about learning the history that is behind the beauty, and how the art and beauty has shaped it's history. This project is about understanding the Prague of the past, while embracing the Prague of the present. After learning about the artistic influence through the centuries, you then become a part of that very same legacy by creating your own artistic depiction of Prague.
