Kansas State Fair and evening concert

This is a possible trip, and it would be wise to see who is interested, especially for those who may want to stay overnight.
The Kansas State Fair is located in Hutchinson, about 2 hours from Manhattan. Most Fair buildings and exhibits open at 9:00. So I'm proposing to leave around 7:00, arrive in Hutch around 9:00, spend the day checking out the exhibits, shows, have lunch, snack on the latest deep fried wonder, etc. For those just wanting to experience the fair during the day, you can easily drive home in the evening.
The Saturday music performance is with two bands: The Fray and Plain White T's. The show begins at 7:30. So it would be nice to stay the night, and go home Sunday morning. Rooms naturally book early during the week of the Fair, so it would be best to look for rooms ASAP.
Given those two choices, we could end up taking two cars, one for the fair only and the other to see the music and stay overnight. Please comment below what you are thinking.
