What we’re about
The purpose of this group is to meet other parents of premature babies and share experiences and offer help throughout the difficult time period of the NICU and beyond. The goal is to find other parents who had a rather painful beginning of the journey of parenthood.
Sometimes parenting or support website say "It's a Preemie Thing" whenever it comes to some of the typical medical issues they might get or developmental steps they sometimes lack behind. These are constant reminders that things are and will be different for a while or longer.
I am also hoping that this group will talk about the big achievements that their little ones have made during their toddler years or childhood and how at some point it does feel good to hear comments that do not include the words "tiny" or "small" .
The 1 year anniversary of the due date of our preemie daughter just passed recently and I realized how big of a milestone and achievement this is and decided to create this group to reflect and share how far we have come and encourage everybody else to participate in discussions, meetings and information exchange.
