Aspen Springs loop - 4 miles
Details
This is a new loop in the Prescott National Forest, consisting of Moby, Quakey, and the brand new Aspen Springs trails. It's an easy-moderate loop of about 4 miles with 466 foot elevation gain. The first segment on Moby 737 is steep uphill on an old forest road, and the Quakey 741 and Aspen Springs 742 trails are well-maintained single-track. The entire hike traverses deep forest of Ponderosa pines, and portions of the 741 and 742 trails pass through the Copper Basin Aspen grove.
To get to the hike, take Montezuma Street (Hwy 89) south from Downtown Prescott and turn right on Copper Basin Road (just past Safeway). Travel about 4.6 miles on Copper Basin and we will meet at the Aspen Creek trailhead parking, on the right. Note the last 2 miles of Copper Basin road is dirt.
