Woodchute Trail #102
Details
Come hike with me on a single track trail in the forest! We will be hiking Woodchute Trail #102, out and back for a total of 6.5 miles. If you are feeling adventurous, we can add .8 miles to reach the ridge, and the end of the trail, for a total of 7.3 miles. The trail has great climbs and we willl get a work out. Once we reach the beginning of mile 3, the forest becomes dense and gorgeous. The trail is rocky in some places. At the Ponderosa Pine summit, we willl be hiking in a flat meadow area. The spring flowers are starting to bloom 💐
Some areas are exposed, so please wear a hat and sunscreen. Remember to bring electrolytes, water, snacks, and hiking poles if you use them.
We will meet at the Woodchute Trailhead.
Directions to the trailhead:
Travel north on 89A toward Jerome. The road is windy, so use caution. You willl see a sign that says “Potato Patch Campground, Woodchute Wilderness.” When you see this sign turn left. Follow the paved road, which will curve to the left. You will reach a dirt road with signs that point to Trail 102. Follow the dirt road to the Trailhead parking lot.
Attached are photos and maps of the hike.
