Highland Spree Hike #8 - Quakey Loop

It’s that time of year again for beautiful fall hikes of the Highlands Center Hiking Spree 2026. Hike 8 out of 10 hikes by December 7th and enter to win a $300 gift card from the Hike Shack in Prescott. You must submit your hikes completed online or in person at the Highlands Center. You can also purchase a commemorative patch from the Benson Family Nature Store for $5.

This is Hike #8 of the Spree, a beautiful loop through Aspen and Ponderosa forests in the Sierra Prieta west of Prescott. The loop is about 5.7 miles with elevation changes from 6200 to 6800 feet, mostly in the shade. The loop will encompass trails #48, 741, 264, 744, 327 and 393.
To get to the trailhead in Prescott, drive south on Montezuma to Copper Basin Road and turn right. Continue about 4.6 miles (Copper Basin becomes a dirt road after about 3 miles). Park at the Aspen Creek parking area on the right.
