# Pendle Hill from Barley 5 miles

Wednesday 4th February 2026 10:30
Starting from the Barley Picnic Site, we will walk through the lovely village before picking up the well walked paths and tracks towards Pendle Hill. The initial climb from Barley to the bottom of the steps has an accent around 480 feet. From here, we will start the steady climb, up the steps to the shelter at the top of the path. The total accent to this point is around 1110 feet. After this, we make our way to the summit of Pendle, which is around 1200 feet. From the summit, we will follow the main track until we reach Boar Clough, at this point, we leave the track and follow the field path across the Barley Moor, down towards the Ogdens. The decent from the end of Boar Clough is down a narrow track which is covered in loose stones. When we reach the bottom, we cross a small Brook and pick up good ground and quality paths. Once we reach the second reservoir, Lower Ogden, there is a wide track, covered in loose stone for a short time and then back onto a tarmac road, back to the cars.
Please note, the finish time is an estimate; although we normally finish within the allotted time, sometimes we may get behind time. Please take this into consideration if you have plans after the walk. Please bring a packed lunch, a warm drink and please ware suitable clothing and footware.
