Although we are due to finish for 2.30 pm sometimes these walks do go over slightly.
This is about 11 mile walk along The Goit, past White Coppice Cricket Ground to Moor Road. At this point we follow the road, which is steep but short and take paths that lead us to Lead Mines Clough and on to climb to Great Hill.. we follow well defined paths and, weather allowing, we skirt Anglezark Moor through the fields. There is a Ford to cross and the fields are likely to be muddy in parts. The path up to Great Hill (Splinter's Edge) is a two mile ascent, walking along old stone flags. We will take a break at the summit of Great Hill. If weather is clear we should be able to see the South Lakes Fells, and Ingleborough.
From here it is a 2 and a half mile descent back to the car.
The paths on this walk maybe muddy, uneven, eroded and stoney. The route has a couple steep, but short hills before we get to the path up to Great Hill.
Although this is technically not a difficult walk you need a good level of fitness for the miles and the ascents.
Walking poles are useful, waterproof boots recommended. The route may change a little if the weather is wet.
Therefore there maybe a couple of styles...
