Riley Green Rambler 3 or 5 miles
Details
Starting from the pub, we will use good quality field paths down to Houghton Bottoms before we pick up the river, heading under the magnificent railway arch we will follow the river past the weirs along paths which may be muddy and uneven in places but are safe if care is taken. Once we have entered the open fields, those who are doing the longer walk will follow the field path to the road leading to Feniscowles. After a short length of road walking, we will walk through the old industrial site to the Leeds Liverpool canal. Once on the canal, the walk will follow the path to the bridge that leads to the road leading to the start point at the Royal Oak.
Those who are doing the shorter walk will make a steady climb from the field to a good quality track which leads to the road back to the start.
The estimated finish time of 9 PM takes into account the after walk social time and drinks. If you are not staying for a drink, the finish will be around 8 PM at the latest.
£2:00 Donation for non-ramblers.
Car parking is on the roadside next to the Royal Oak.
