Details
Wednesday 2nd September 2026
At 10:30 AM we will start from the village hall and follow the popular Tolkien Trail that follows sections of the rivers Ribble and Hodder. This walk uses good quality tracks and paths on this historic trail. There are a number of steps to climb as we leave the river valley and a small section of road walking. Great views of the area can be seen from most of the walk. We will go past the historic Stonyhurst college where Aurther Colen Dole studied. When we get back to the village, the second part of the walk will start, if you want to join us, we will be climbing through Greengore and once other road, we will head towards Intack, before dropping down to Huntingdton Hall before making outer way to Bailey Farm. This section of the walk using field paths that can be quite rough in parts but it is a rewarding walk with the views afforded from the highest vantage points along the way.
The Expected finish time for the 7.5 mile walk is 15:00 and 17:30 for the full walk.
