Let's Brunch and Honor Moms: ourselves, each other and those who "mothered" us!

Sorry, guys, this one is just for the ladies!

What mom doesn't enjoy a delicious meal that she doesn't have to cook herself? Toss in a lovely restaurant, an efficient wait staff, and a table loaded with friends and *voila~*you have the perfect Mother's Day Brunch!

I hope you will join me at Chez Zee for Saturday Brunch to celebrate and honor the accomplishments of the women in our life. It’s also a time to cherish the relationship between child and mother; and many of us have also recieved "mothering" from a special friend, neighbor, teacher, or grandparent that we also hold close in our heart this day. It will be a great time of sharing some of the ups and downs of our lives with and as mothers! (As Winona Judd once said, "If it's not one thing it's your mother!") Chez Zee has a wonderful, varied brunch menu of food and drinks! (Who has an embarrassing story??)

Did you knkow that Anna Jarvis, who made it her life mission to get Mother’s Day onto the national calendar, later lobbied the government to have it removed? In 1908, she sparked the first widely recognized celebration of the holiday as she teamed up with floral companies and department stores to spread the word. Finally, in 1914, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed Mother’s Day a national holiday to be celebrated every year on the second Sunday of May.

Her vision of a peaceful and personal day for honoring and visiting with mothers quickly became commercialized by florists, retailers, and card companies. Although she had initially worked with these industries to promote the holiday, she felt it had spiraled into something unrecognizable! It seemed that spending time with one’s mother, expressing appreciation, and even helping her with her duties was now overshadowed by gift-buying.

Fortunately, today we can hopefully preserve Jarvis’ intended celebrations and shower mom--and ourselves-- with well-deserved gifts and treats as well~ like brunch!
