Secular Single Parent Peer Support Group

Hello All Single Mom's & Dad's. This group is for any single parent to receive and give support to each other.

About me: I have been a single Mom of my wonderful 10 year old daughter since she was 9 months old. I have had 100% custody all that time. I have a B.A. in Pychology and always planned on getting a counceling degree but life circumstances and illnesses got in the way that made that very hard. But I am thankful I am alive and am still able to take care of my daughter and give back to my community.

I have over two decades of experience being a participant in support groups and individual Counceling. Last year it came to my attention that single parents in my single parent social group needed a support group and I have been developing this one since the summer. I also started one at a local homeless shelter for single parents since September 2024 2x a month where I have been learning so much.

First and foremost, we must take care of our selves first to really be able to be there for another person in a healthy way. My daughter is my inspiration everyday to strive to be a better person because I know she is watching me, whether I am paying attention or not.

I hope you will join me on this journey of learning and compassion for ourselves and our children.

2pm-2:30pm
• Rules of group safty
• I will read a short except from a source concerning parenting, child development or self improvement and we will have a short discussion.

2:30pm-4pm Sharing and Support
• Introductions: Name, ages of children. Say one thing your grateful for this week. You may share what is on your heart and mind that you want feedback from the parent circle. I will then open it up to the group to give feedback or ask questions for clarification. The next person in the circle will take their turn and so on.
• Closing. What will you do this week to care for yourself.

We will be meeting on the last Saturday of every month.

Sorry no childcare is available at this time but will begin hopefully next month in April.
