Venice Beach Book Club: Never Read Didion

Details
A lover of literature in Southern California, and you haven’t read Didion? This is where we gasp. Except we haven’t either. So we’re beginning with the seminal “Slouching Towards Bethlehem”, because we’re told that’s where we’re meant to start. Join us for digital meetings beginning August 23rd and occurring every Wednesday this Spring.
That’s not all — we’ll also be hosting optional in-person sessions for members to meet and connect throughout the Spring with a closing party for "Slouching Towards Bethlehem" in July (just before we open for our completely in-person Summer Sessions).

We are an intimate reading group, created with privacy in mind to facilitate candid discussion. Some of the writers and books covered within group are widely considered to be controversial. It follows then, that conversation concerning such works would naturally be divisive. In an effort to facilitate open conversation and candor in discussion, as our group grows, we will be particular about who we offer seats to.
Our meetings are facilitated by a master’s scholar of literature and cover authors and philosophers like Ottessa Moshfegh, Bret Easton Ellis, Baron Julius Evola, and others that may be triggering for sensitive readers. We do not typically read genre fiction, and will not consider your serialized romance #BookTok favorites. Please visit our reading list to better understand what reading with us might look like.

Every week on Wednesday until July 21, 2025
