You must contact the hike leader if you are interested in joining (email below). There is an attendee limit to this hike so please do not sign up unless you are sure you can attend. Otherwise, you may take a spot from someone else that really wants to attend.
We will hike \~8-10 miles. The hike will include views of drumlins, Lake Ontario shoreline and various wetlands.
Please bring plenty of water, snacks, lunch and a positive attitude.
Depending on group size and pace, this hike could take 5 - 6 hours, so please plan accordingly. If you have time constraints, this may not be the hike for you.
Once I know who is going, I will send out final details (meeting time and location) to the group.

6:30 pm Workshop: Edison High School Outdoors Club: Learn about the young outdoor persons club at a City of Rochester School.

7:30 pm Program: The Voice of the Hudson by Dr. Joe Dadey

The Voice of the Hudson is a film documentary by Emmy-award winning cinematographer and filmmaker John Barnhardt featuring the 2-week, 375-mile Hudson River Source to Sea Expedition and the eight student explorers who hiked, paddled, and biked from New York State’s highest summit—Mt Marcy—to New York City, and along the way conducted a citizen science project of the Hudson’s water quality, including an assessment of microplastics.

During this project-based learning expedition, a venture collaboratively planned and led by Adirondack Hamlets to Huts, Mountain Goat Movement, and Evergreen Business Analytics, LLC, the student explorers discovered the river’s uniqueness, relevance to conservation, and current ecological condition while being endowed with a strong sense of achievement and environmental stewardship. In completing this challenging expedition, the young men on this transformative journey followed in the footsteps of explorers throughout the ages and shared the aura of adventure and scientific discovery that has driven intrepid pathfinders across time.

Outside Voices at the ADK-GVC Chapter Meeting

Do you... Love Mendon Ponds Park? Hate the thought of shopping on Black Friday? Plan to eat more than a reasonable amount of turkey and potatoes on Thanksgiving? All of the above?

This hike is for you!

Join us for a hike of the perimeter trails of Mendon Ponds Park for a distance of 10-11 miles. This hike is not recommended for beginners - portions of the trail will be on hilly terrain and we will hike at a steady pace. Please contact the hike leader in advance to sign up - final details on the starting location and hike route will be provided to confirmed attendees.

We will meet at 8:15am to begin hiking promptly at 8:30am. Please dress for the conditions, bring water/snacks, and be prepared to sign ADK's release of liability form, which will be provided by the trip leader for you to complete in the parking area before starting the hike.
