Name: AI in the Wild Brighton #1: practical AI for marketing and sales
Start: 2026-11-19T18:00:00.000Z
Location: The Walrus

Upstairs at the The Perseverance, 63 Lamb's Conduit St, London WC1N 3NB

Following on from our first event in August, we'll be back for our second instalment in October.

The basic premise for the event is pretty simple: We've been to a bunch of conferences where AI and its role in marketing and commercial were covered with great titles but didn't really get into the nitty-gritty of how AI was implemented, what went wrong, how they approached things, and what they would do differently.

We created AI in the Wild because we wanted to put on the type of event we want to go to: informal, laid-back, and focused on the practical implementation of AI.

Agenda

* **Beyond the Slop: Scaling Authentic, Human-Led Video with AI (speaker Ben Moura, Screencult)**

Audiences instantly spot generic "AI slop". Synthetic avatars might be quick but they erode audience trust. The true power of AI is in removing production overhead. Discover how practical AI tools enable teams to quickly and easily scale up authentic, human-led video.

* **Before you build: How to get your first AI project right**

Your first AI project is exciting, but setting it up for success is critical. In this session, we’ll look at how to choose the right opportunity, how to measure success, assess your data and processes, build the right team, and move from idea to a practical MVP. We’ll also cover the common pitfalls: from starting with the technology rather than the problem, to underestimating data quality, governance, integration and change management - and how to build something that delivers measurable value rather than becoming another AI Pilot failure.

* **Agentic AI: More Autonomy, More Opportunity….More Risk?**

Agentic AI moves us beyond simple copilots and chatbots into systems that can plan, make decisions, use tools and take actions on our behalf. That creates huge potential: faster workflows, lower operating costs, better customer experiences and teams freed from repetitive work. But as autonomy increases, so do the challenges: more integrations, more governance, greater security and compliance exposure, harder-to-predict behaviour, and potentially significant implementation and running costs. This session looks at where agentic AI can genuinely create value, how complexity changes the risk profile, and how to decide when the additional autonomy is actually worth paying for.

**Who this is for**

AI in the Wild is for people in marketing and the commercial functions around it, the people expected to turn AI into revenue, efficiency or a better customer experience.
You will feel at home here if you work in:

* Marketing (brand, demand generation, digital, content, campaigns)
* CRM, lifecycle and customer marketing
* Ecommerce and digital commerce
* Sales and revenue operations
* Customer experience and service
* Data and analytics in a commercial context
* Business owners and leaders responsible for growth

**Who this isn't for**
We are not an engineering or machine-learning meet-up. If you want to go deep on model architecture, engineering, or building AI systems from the ground up, there are excellent London groups for that, and we'd be happy to point you to them.

The Perseverance

The first AI in the Wild Brighton meetup.

An evening about what applying AI actually looks like in a real business.
Two questions run through this session. How do you run an AI proof of concept that actually proves something? And what does it really take to build an AI tool that marketers would use and drives measurable value?
Agenda:
**Why most AI pilots fail (and the ones that don't)**
How to scope a proof of concept, define success before you start, and prove commercial impact rather than a good demo.
**Should you buy an AI tool or build your own?**
What actually tips the balance either way, and what it costs to get it wrong.
**Your new AI campaign analyst**
A live demo of a tool that turns campaign data into insight, plus an honest account of what went wrong building it.
**Automating the annoying parts of your job**
Cross-platform reporting, data cleansing and competitive monitoring. What can realistically be handed over to AI tools.
