We’re a warm, welcoming community gathering for anyone curious about Nonviolent Communication or simply looking for genuine human connection.

Once a month we meet at the park, spread our blankets on the grass, and practice the art of listening deeply and speaking honestly. No lectures, no pressure, just real people having real conversations in the fresh air.

Whether you’ve never heard of NVC or have been practicing for years, there’s a place for you in our circle.

We keep things relaxed and low-key: bring your own snacks 🍪🥗, a picnic blanket , and an open heart ❤️

Water fountains and restrooms are on-site, and there’s always shade under the trees if you need it.

NVC (Nonviolent Communication) is a simple but powerful framework developed by Marshall Rosenberg that helps us express ourselves honestly and listen to others with compassion.

It’s a skill that transforms how we relate to the people around us, and it’s best learned in community.

**Join us for Humboldt County's 22nd NVC Gathering**

**Saturday and Sunday**
**Sessions will be**
**10am-12:00pm and 1:15pm-3:15pm on Saturday**
**And**
**10am-12pm Sunday**

**Each session will include these elements: NVC Instruction, Small Group, and Large Group Discussion. May include Journaling, Movement, and Meditation.**

**Please RSVP and invite your friends?**

**We will provide some salad greens. Please bring something to share with 5-6 people.**

**Courageous Communication in Alexandria -- September 26-27, 2026**

* Are you looking for ways to maintain a sense of internal capacity and balance while showing up with integrity for your friends, family, and community?
* Do you wish for more meaningful connections with others?
* Does the political climate have you reaching for ways to make sense of things, break out of cynicism, and find ways to connect even when you don’t agree?

**Join us for a weekend of Nonviolent Communication in Alexandria, VA!** In this 1.5-day retreat, we’ll cultivate community while offering skills, tools, and practices to help you foster more connection, navigate conflict, and tap into your inner sense of meaning and purpose. This retreat includes breakout sessions that follow two tracks—one for those new to NVC (or wanting a refresher) and another for more experienced practitioners. In addition, we’ll support both integration and an embodied sense of connection with sessions that incorporate rhythm, movement, and song.

**Topics include:**

* Creating meaningful connection with yourself and others
* Shifting out of judgments with clarity and care
* Turning wishes into real requests
* Expressing regret, and attending to repair
* Attending to both personal and systemic dynamics with compassion
* Building resilience and capacity

**What’s distinctive about this NVC retreat?**

* Breakouts let you tailor your learning to your experience level, while full-community sessions offer accompaniment and new connections
* Rhythm, music, and movement leverage the power of play to build shared community and support integration (no experience necessary!)
