Post is the dead center of Oregon surrounded by the Ochoco National Forest. This Dirty Freehub gravel route is called Meatloaf and is named from the world famous meatloaf sandwiches served up by the Post store (which is highly decorated in stuffed animals and has a Western history that makes Billy the Kid envious.)

The riding is superb … the route boasts one of the best downhills we can think of … so yes, that means you need to climb! The forests are thick with ponderosas covered in bright green wolf moss.

Where is POST? Just drive through Prineville and keep on going … Google says it takes one hour and twenty two minutes from Bend. Always good to plan for a coffee break in Prineville on your way. Lovely drive …

**Logistics:**
Please when you arrive at the Post store, do not use the parking that is right next to the store. If you want to commute with others, then just add a comment on the Meetup page which includes: approx where you live and if you want a ride or you want to drive.

Our ride is not meant to be a race but a social outing. After all, it’s nice to chat and get to know other people. The goal is to have fun, meet other people, and sneak in a ride. We will regroup at major intersections.
I normally ride about 10 mph, but with all that downhill, it’s anybody’s guess. The shuttle promptly leaves at 9 am, so you need to plan accordingly.

Sorry to say, but this is NOT a no-drop ride. (Gosh, there are a lot of NOs in that last sentence.) But we WILL regroup a few times. This ride is also unsupported.

If the weather takes a dive, you can assume we are canceling.

**Why do we charge for rides?**
Running community rides takes resources:

* **MeetUp platform**: nearly $550 per year
* **Liability insurance**: ensuring we can host rides responsibly
* **Event organization**: planning, route design, and coordination

Altogether, hosting community rides costs **$2,000–$3,000 each year**. Right now, those expenses are carried by our generous donors. To keep things fair, we ask all riders to contribute—either through an [annual donation](https://dirtyfreehub.org/donate/) or a per-event fee.
