The European Blockchain Partnership built the past years an infrastructure to deploy its cross-border public service blockchain use cases. The nodes and capabilities created, based on Hyperledger Besu and tested in different early adopter projects, are now ready for further deployment. The European Blockchain Service Infrastructure is an essential building block for the new decentralized economy and society. To support its further growth, a new organization will be created, the European Digital Infrastructure Consortium (EDIC) Europeum, by several countries, including the hosting country Belgium. We will discuss the possibilities and challenges of this new EDIC and its services for the web3 community.
