**Exploring AI Through Carlota Perez’s Lens: Revolution or Evolution?**

Join us on September 26 for another engaging book club chapter. This time we will dive into Carlota Perez’s seminal work, “Technological Revolutions and Financial Capital.” This session will not just be a discussion of the book but a focused debate on the place of AI in the landscape of technological revolutions.

**Topic of Debate**

Is AI a true, standalone technological revolution, or is it just a part of the current IT&C revolution?

We will explore this question through the lens of Perez’s framework, analyzing whether AI is in the irruption, frenzy, synergy, or maturity phase of its adoption and integration.

**Event Goal**

As AI rapidly evolves, it’s crucial to understand whether it represents a completely new frontier or if it’s destined to follow the same paths as previous technological revolutions. Our goal is to spark a thought-provoking conversation that will help you better understand AI's role and future impact on our world.

For every book club we follow the same ritual:

1. Quick introduction of the participants (max 10 min).
2. Quick introduction of the book, done by one of the participants, pointing out what they found particularly relevant and highlighting a few relevant ideas from the book (5-10 min).
3. Open debate where we add to the points highlighted - challenge them, add more points, and debate the interpretation (40 - 60 min).

[Shreyas Deshmukh](https://www.linkedin.com/in/deshmukhshreyas/) is a Product Manager at the Warner Music Group (WMG), where he crafts tools that empower artists and music labels to reach new audiences and optimize their revenue streams.

Before joining WMG, Shreyas led monetization products in the Ads division at Google, creating tools to help YouTubers and web/app developers generate revenue through their content. His career journey began at Microsoft, where he worked on growth strategies for Microsoft Office mobile apps, helping the iconic software expand its reach on handheld devices.

In addition to his product expertise, Shreyas is an active angel investor, advisor to a few UN-SDG startups and a novice podcaster. He regularly publishes videos on YouTube unpacking the process of building great products.

Online meetup: Unlocking Product Success: Fireside Chat on PM Best Practices

Dear ProductTank Pittsburgh,

Last September, we officially re-launched our in-person community meetups. Now, a year later, it's the perfect time to reflect and celebrate our community!

When we re-launched last year, we sought your feedback to guide our efforts and events. The feedback showed the importance of several key themes:

* Bridging the gaps in our Pittsburgh Product community by creating inclusive opportunities with plenty of networking and social time
* Featuring local Pittsburgh-area Product professionals as presenters and session facilitators
* Designing Meetups to allow for interactive, hands-on learning
* Holding in-person ProductTank Pittsburgh Meetups on a consistent schedule at centrally located venues in the city

At our re-launch Meetup in September 2023, we also did an activity that crowd-sourced insights to the question - *“What is the first step we should take to make ProductTank Pittsburgh the best that it can be?”* The top-voted idea was to *“Create the culture and the network.”*
