Summer is here so it is time to take it to the park. The date may change if the weather is crappy

Last summer we were getting about 25 people attending

Bring your own chair/blanket , drinks (booze is ok), food , and bbq to the event
Getting together to socialize and talk travel
Answer questions about the upcoming trips and get ideas for other trips
The general time line to these type of events:
2-230 everyone arrives
230- 245 everyone introduces themselves and tells us where they are travelling next
245-300 I will answer any questions about our upcoming trips
300-500 Break into small groups to socialize and find others that have gone to where you are travelling to get tips and advice

Lots of people have travel plans and some I have helped book.

I have been to Jordan, Israel, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Mexico, Fiji, Tahiti , lead a group to Morocco and taken a river cruise in the last year or so.

The stadium has washrooms

to find the spot
north on pintree way
turn left onto trevor wingrove way
turn left into town centre water parking lot (its listed in google maps)
the volley ball courts and play park will be to your right (south)
the town stadium park sports hub & ping pong tables directly in front of you (east)
we will be setup on your left in the corner of the grass fields under the trees (directly in front of the ping pong tables )

if raining we will move to the stadium bleachers which are covered

BBQ/Picnic Talk about local exploring & international travel for later this year

Just a good reason to hang out, have some drink , eat and listen to music.
Last year had a core of a dozen that sat together and another dozen that came and mingled.

Bring your own chair or blanket to sit on (maybe an umbrella or tent for shade), cash to purchase food/drinks and maybe a small cooler to bring your own food and drinks.

Meet at Lafarge skytrain at 1:50 and I will wait until 2:00. then We will walk over to find a spot for the group as it is posted in a few meetups. If you arrive early or later, just message to see where we setup so you can join us.
If you drive, I will comment in this post to say where we set up so you can join us .
The group may stay longer then 3 hours .

Caribbean Days Festival returns for 2024.
Each year, during the last weekend of July, the Trinidad & Tobago Cultural Society of BC presents the Caribbean Days Festival. This event draws a crowd of exuberant fun-lovers for a weekend of parading, dining, socializing (liming) and dancing in the sunshine. This is a weekend of tropical rhythm, cuisine, carnival and culture as only the Caribbean can offer.
Over the years, the Festival has grown into the largest Caribbean event on the local calendar. With up to 60,000 people attending annually, it is one of the largests cultural events of its type in BC, period.
Below are some of the basics about Caribbean Days. But don’t forget that for everything you need to attend on Festival Weekend,

The park is situated not far from Coquitlam Town Centre, a well-known shopping destination and a hub of the city’s transportation system. As a result, the park can be reached easily via Skytrain. Simply take the Millennium Line to its terminus at Lafarge Lake-Douglas Station, and from there it’s just a few steps to the Park. There is also ample parking adjacent to the park for those arriving by car.

Town Centre Park is an ideal location for an outdoor festival, and indeed it plays host to a number of major events each year. Fittingly, it is also home to Percy Perry Stadium, named in honour of long-serving Coquitlam community leader and Caribbean expatriate Percy Perry.
Caribbean Days Festival is proud to make its long-awaited return.
Caribbean Days Festival is free to attend, is open to all ages, is wheelchair accessible and close to public transportation. Over the years, the Festival has grown into the largest Caribbean event on the local calendar. With tens of thousands of attendees, it is possibly the largest cultural event.
