Building user-facing real-time analytics is challenging. While Apache Kafka is standard for event streaming, most OLAP systems can't handle the millisecond latencies needed for real-time user analytics. Apache Pinot addresses this gap.
In this session, we'll explore how companies like LinkedIn and Stripe solve this problem using Apache Pinot. We'll cover its architecture, examine why it's the fastest OLAP system, and provide a demo to show how easily you can achieve fast, scalable analytics.

Pinot is a real-time OLAP datastore initially designed for append-only use cases. This talk highlights the journey of introducing Upserts in Pinot and subsequent developments to provide sustainable deletion support.

Pratik is a Sr. Software Engineer at Uber working in the Pinot team. He has been working in the Data platform for the past 5 years.

**[Kishore Gopalakrishna](https://www.linkedin.com/in/kgopalak/) is the co-founder and CEO of StarTree,** a venture-backed startup focused on Apache Pinot - the open source real-time distributed OLAP engine that he and StarTree's founding team developed at LinkedIn and Uber. Kishore is passionate about solving hard problems in distributed systems and has authored various projects in the space such as Apache Helix, a cluster management framework for building distributed systems; Espresso, a distributed document store; and ThirdEye, a platform for anomaly detection and root cause analysis at LinkedIn.
