Scrum is the most popular agile framework in the world, but do you truly understand it? Many organizations say they "do Scrum" but don't follow the key principles and practices. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn Scrum the right way by building your own framework.

Scrum is intentionally lightweight and incomplete, providing just enough structure for teams to self-organize and thrive. The Scrum Guide is a concise overview of roles, events, and artifacts. But simply reading about Scrum is not enough - you have to experience it.

In this workshop, you'll gain firsthand experience with Scrum by constructing the framework piece by piece. We'll start by seeing what we already know and how well we understand the framework. Then we'll look at the timeline of Scrum events, and then we'll explore the key roles that make up Scrum. Before we leave we'll explore myths and facts about Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Reviews, and Retrospectives.

Along the way, you'll learn why Scrum is so flexible and powerful. You'll understand how Scrum helps teams inspect and adapt, focus on business value, and deliver working software frequently.

If you want to truly grok Scrum through hands-on learning, this workshop is for you. You'll walk away knowing Scrum's core purpose, components, and practices.

Tulsa Agile Practitioners meets on the first Monday of every month. This will most typically be at 36 Degrees North Basecamp, but may be moved to other locations or taken online during office closures.

These meetups may be a hands-on workshop, deep-dive presentation, agile games, or Lean Coffee.

Welcome to Techlahoma Hack Night hosted at 36 Degrees North Basecamp downtown and organized by Tulsa Web Devs.

October: At this month's Hack Night we'll flex our refactoring muscles by working on the Gilded Rose Kata. We'll take a mess and clean it up and share our approaches to doing so. Pairing strongly encouraged but not required. This is a language agnostic exercise.

This will be a monthly event in 2023 on the 4th Tuesday of each month. This year we're going to pick a project or topic each month to work on together in a 'hackathon' type format. We'll intro the topic, break out to work on it, and come back together at the end for sharing & Q&A. Pair/mob programming, working outside your comfort zone, and meeting new people all strongly encouraged, fun required. If working in groups/pairs isn't your thing you're welcome to play along on your own or bring your own side project and stay for the good company.
