Ebbetts Pass or Ebbetts Pass plus Lake Alpine

Details
This is an options ride we start at Markleville and head to Ebbetts pass, the course is terribly simple, keep right at the intersection of Hwy 4 and Hwy 89 and keep going up the hill. Ebbetts pass is one of the most scenic and has been designated a "Scenic Byway".
Park near the gas station which is just as you enter Markleeville. There are porta potties there near the Commerce Department, right there.
One can turn around at the top of Ebbetts Pass or continue to Lake Alpine which is another 14 miles. We will take a break at the top of Ebbetts Pass (which we will need). In past runs of this options ride many people decide to turn around at the top of Ebbetts. The crazies that continue are those signed up for the death ride on July 12.
There is a lodge at Lake alpine with a restaurant and a convenience store and we typically take a break at the store. Don't worry about the weather too much once you get a few miles up Ebbetts you are at 7000 feet or more for a while and will only experience lower elevation heat near the end.
