Your API is a Product - you need a real API Product Manager for it

APIs used to be a byproduct of our development process. However they have become products in their own right, either because they contribute >50% of revenue for many organizations or because we now have companies whose only products are APIs (for example Twilio and Stripe). It’s important to treat them like any other product and pay attention to design, metrics and roadmaps, as well as have dedicated API Product Managers. (a new discipline!)
