Product Demos and Mixer
Details
Let's get into the products!
We have amazing demos lined up. Also pizza, drinks and stickers!
Also super excited to welcome our awesome panelists for our next Product Hunt meetup this Thursday. They will lead the post-demo questions and share their advice and comments.
Pete Cooper - Pete is a strategist, renowned in the startup community in Sydney. As an advisor to startups, former CEO of SAASU, and now regional director at Freelancer, Pete worked with products at both the early stages and during growth.
I am so stoked to have Pete on board. Thanks Pete!
Cameron Adams - Founder and product designer at Canva. As Bill Tai - the awesome Silicon Valley Investor - puts it, Canva (https://www.canva.com/) could well be Australia's first ‘unicorn’ company – a company valued at $1 billion. Cameron and the team at Canva have shaped a design masterpiece over the past few years, and will be sharing his expertise with us.
James Lamont - Co-Founder Vero. Vero is the perfect example of a bootstrapped company that has seen amazing growth in the past couple of years. Action based email is big, and Vero was at the forefront of this new tech. James will be sharing his technical expertise with us.
And for the Products:
Evertouch - (evertouchcontacts.com (http://evertouchcontacts.com/)) is an electronic address book that updates itself. The beta release was on iOS in August. The guys will be demoing the new version of the product to us.
Brain Pump (http://brainpump.net (http://brainpump.net/)), currently on Product Hunt with 177 upvotes! Check out Brain Bump on the Product Hunt website here: ( http://www.producthunt.com/posts/brain-pump-1 ). The comments section is also a good primer for our discussions next Thursday.
Hello Sunday Morning (HSM) - (www.hellosundaymorning.com.au (http://www.hellosundaymorning.com.au/)) The inception of Hello Sunday Morning (HSM) came as the result of an amazing journey. It started as a blog documenting Chris Raine’s experience with going dry for a year.
Now, a full blown social network for folks who want to improve their relationship with alcohol, the guys at HSM are working on their first mobile app. They will be sharing with us their experience with designing and building the app.
Schedule:
-
6.30 pm - Arrive, mingling, drinks
-
7 pm - Quick intro
-
Product demos, 10-15 mins each inc Q & A
-
Closing note
-
More mingling, pizza and drinks
If you're working on a product, and are looking for a platform to demo it, please get involved. Add your details and the product name in the comments section below (first come, first serve).
When demoing, some the things we might want to learn are:
-
Key design decisions you made
-
Any learnings you achieved through the Customer Development process, any pivots you made
-
Some of the tech used
-
The overarching goal and long term vision for the product
Just as a caveat, the demos are not sales pitches. The aim is to share products and product knowledge with the community. So we're adopting a "lighting talk" format, where the aim is to communicate the main ideas and the tech behind a product in under 10 minutes.
If you can keep your demo as short as possible, that will allow for more time for feedback.
Let's have an awesome evening :)
