In this candid lecture, Reza Barzegar explores what happens when you learn PM the hard way: by launching startups without studying it first. Drawing from his experiences founding ventures (SaaS for micro-enterprises) in creative industry (Auro Earth and Azgil) and an intelligent apparel recommender system (Dina Mode), Reza breaks down how missing core PM skills directly catalyzed his early failures.

More importantly, the talk details how these missteps served as an intense, real-world masterclass. Attendees will learn how untreated assumptions break startups, which critical PM skills must be prioritized, and how to use failure as a diagnostic tool. Ultimately, the session redefines Product Management from a founder’s perspective—not just as feature delivery, but as the essential architecture that connects a business ecosystem to reality.

About our speaker:
Reza Barzegar is a Product Manager and Venture Architect who specializes in translating complex systems and narrative logic into market-ready products. Coming from a non-technical background, Reza approaches product management as an investigative discipline—leveraging data-driven pattern discovery to bridge the gap between high-level strategy and execution.
He holds a Master’s degree in Marketing Management and is currently completing an MSc in Innovation and Research for Sustainability at ISEG, University of Lisbon. As the former founder of startups like Auro Earth, Azgil, and Dina Mode, Reza uses his entrepreneurial background to inform his product philosophy: treating every failure as a vital data point to build more resilient, user-centric business ecosystems.
