Thor Mitchell

👤 - "Thor is the Executive-In-Residence for Product at London based VC firm Balderton Capital, providing coaching and advisory support on product management related topics to Balderton’s portfolio companies such as Beauty Pie. Cleo, Photoroom, and Zoe.

Thor began his career as an engineer at Sun Microsystems before joining Google in 2006, and moving into Product Management a few years later. He has since built and led Product teams at early, growth, and scaled technology companies in Europe, the U.S., and Australia, including 3 years as CPO at Crowdcube, and 4 years as a VP of Product at Miro.

Thor is a co-founder of ProductTank Exeter, and recently relaunched ProductTank Oxford. He is particularly passionate about supporting people pursuing careers in Product Management, and founded Miro's APM program, one of the first structured programs for aspiring Product Managers in Europe."

📢 - "As tech companies mature, they implement formalised processes for assessing the performance of employees, including product managers. In order to progress as a PM in such an organisation, it's important to understand how these processes really work, and how to build a strong case for a good rating and a promotion.

This talk is a behind-the-scenes look at performance management processes for PMs, and an insiders view on how to navigate them effectively. It is informed by over 10 years of defining and participating in performance management processes, including defining the competency framework for PMs at Miro, and partnering with the People Ops team to define the processes by which PM performance is calibrated, and promotion decisions made."

👤 - Jason is a B2B product leader, consultant, coach, founder and podcaster. By day, he works with B2B startups and scale-ups to help them build great products and build the teams that build great products. By night, he speaks to inspiring thought leaders, practitioners and founders on his podcast One Knight in Product.

They feel like the perfect world in the books is so far away, that the organisational resistance is so strong, that they might as well not even try.
