Collaboration between Product Design and Product Management.

One of the most important relationships on a product team is the relationship between product manager and product designer. In recent years, there has been increasing discussion of how these responsibilities compliment each other, overlap, and sometimes conflict. When done well, this collaboration leads to an unrivaled understanding of customer needs, a cycle of continuous learning, and ultimately successful products.

We’re going to have a few product manager/designer pairs from different organizations on a panel to discuss the relationship between product management and product design. Think “The Newlywed Game” but instead of finding out how much “couples” know about each other, we’re talking about what an effective partnership between product design and product management looks like. For example:
What is naturally complimentary between the two functions?
Where is there opportunity for conflict?
How do high-functioning teams manage this partnership well?
