One Small Step: Your Product Origin Story

Details
Hey there, ProductTank Pittsburgh!
We’re thrilled to invite you to our next meetup—and this one’s going to be something special. We’ll be gathering at the Moonshot Museum, a truly inspiring space where innovation takes center stage. During this event, we will hear from Dr. Jimyse Brown (Executive Director at Moonshot Museum) and Max Friedman (Sr. Product Manager at Google.) You'll get to network and learn in an incredible venue where you can view a lunar lander being built just a few feet away! Although we will be meeting in a space-centered location, note that this Meetup is open to everyone in the Product world - not just those working on space-related products.
First, Dr. Jimyse Brown (Executive Director at Moonshot Museum) will tell us about how the Moonshot Museum offers an up-close look at Pittsburgh’s role in the 21st-century space industry, while also developing the next generation of Pittsburgh innovators.
Then, we'll dive into Product origin stories—and yours is front and center. Led by Max Friedman (Sr. Product Manager at Google), this interactive session will guide you through a reflective and engaging activity where you'll explore your personal journey into Product. You’ll leave with fresh perspectives on how to tell your story, articulate your experience, and build your own bank of “tell me about a time when…” moments that are perfect for interviews, mentoring, or just connecting with others in the field.
And here's a bonus: the stories and insights we create together will be used for a follow-up event with students at the Moonshot Museum, introducing students to the world of Product and sparking curiosity about future career paths. So not only will you walk away from this event with your own new ideas and connections—you’ll also be giving back to our local youth.
Some logistical info:
- 5:30-6:00 will be arrival & networking time, with speakers and facilitated activities beginning at 6:00.
- Moonshot Museum is in the same building as Astrobotic. There are a limited number of parking spaces available in their lot - first come, first served. If the lot is full when you arrive, you can find street parking in the surrounding neighborhood, or park in a nearby public parking lot.
- We are not providing food or drink at this meetup. You can bring in your own food/drink if desired, but please be mindful of the fact that we are in a museum! (Don't set food/drink on displays, use trash and recycling receptacles, etc.)
Don’t miss this one. Come for the community, stay for the stories, and leave a little more inspired.
