Crash Course: Human-Computer Interaction for Product Managers
Details
Hey there ProductTank Pittsburgh... we hope you can join us for this special combined ProductTank +PDMA event featuring Brad Eiben, Executive Director of the MS in Product Management program at CMU.
Session Overview:
Many PMs come from technical backgrounds and have developed self-limiting beliefs that creativity is outside their comfort zone. We’ll aim to fix that, and provide some tools to foster a process of creativity.
Nearly all PMs understand that design thinking and usability are important in their products’ performance. Many, however, are either self-trained or have never had exposure to formal training. We’ll review simple, effective, and (hopefully) fun techniques taught in CMU’s HCI (Human Computer Interation) for Product Managers course. Think of this as a greatest hits compilation.
This workshop will be designed to introduce processes and techniques for those without strong design backgrounds. It will also be a solid refresher of basics for those who are experienced.
In an effort to ensure we’re solving the right problem, we will cover some effective and interactive techniques you can immediately implement with your team:
- Discovery techniques
- Stakeholder mapping
- Ideation techniques
- Design heuristics
- Rapid design techniques
BONUS: the CMU MSPM program is not only providing the venue for this event, but they are also generously sponsoring food and drink for attendees!
Schedule:
6:00-6:30 - arrival and networking
6:30 - interactive session begins
Don't miss out on this great evening of human-computer interaction AND human-human interaction. :)
