Olesya Boreyko will share Strategies to Mitigate UX Debt While Shipping New Product Features.
Agile teams are susceptible to UX debt due to high velocity of shipping new features and functionality often at a cost of the best user experience. As UX debt mounts, so are the costs of mitigating it. User frustrations, reduced productivity, negative mental models start to affect the bottom line. In my presentation I will review ways of identifying, prioritizing, and mitigating it as part of the product development cycle. This talk will be helpful not only to UX leadership and professionals, but also to product and engineering managers.
Olesya is a seasoned design leader with a decade of experience across the tech sector. Prior to working in-house, she ran a web design agency where her favorite part was operating at the intersection of business and design, and least favorite – doing taxes. At this stage of her career, she focuses on nurturing and empowering diverse voices in design and solving complex product problems at a strategic level. In her free time, you can find her on a paddleboard, playing chess or snapping hundreds of photos of her two cats.

Rich Mironov will talk about the language of money, and framing technical work in the fundamental language of executives (revenue).
Most go-to-market-side executives are not interested in how we build products or deep technical/process discussions. (Sorry.) They are interested in how much money we can make and who we should market/sell to. So product folks have to be bilingual: we speak engineering/design/process with our teams – but revenue with our go-to-market teams and financial benefits with our customers. Rich will take us through the basic grammar of money stories.
Recently relocated to Portland, Rich Mironov is a 40-year product management veteran including six startups and 200 consulting clients. He coaches product leaders, helps design software product organizations, and parachutes in as interim CPO/VP of Product. He has been blogging about PM since 2002 at https://www.mironov.com/ and wrote "The Art of Product Management."
