Quantum diplomacy is an evolving concept that refers to how nations use diplomacy to navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by quantum technologies. It is a framework for addressing the geopolitical implications of quantum advancements. With these advancements come significant cybersecurity threats. Guest speakers Yara J. Fernandes and Farai Mazhandu introduce the Africa Quantum Consortium and its work in advancing quantum diplomacy. We will discuss the intersection of physics and cryptography, as well as post-quantum cryptographic security strategies.

About the Speakers
Farai Mazhandu is a quantum strategist and founder of the Africa Quantum Consortium (AQC), building talent and technology pipelines across Africa and the U.S. With 15+ years in physics, research, and ecosystem leadership, he is a published author, speaker, and thought leader actively shaping the continent’s quantum future.

Yara J. Fernandes is a Global Ambassador for the Africa Quantum Consortium and the International Director for the Space, Quantum, & Economic Innovation Mission at ShakthiSAT.
