Creating a Sound Map

Details

Slow down and listen deeply to the world around you. In this creative workshop, we'll explore how to visually document sounds, playing with different types of mark making in response to what we hear.

We’ll start with a discussion about different ways we can document sounds and then go for a slow 20-minute walk along the seawall, listening quietly, and visually recording what we hear. At the end of the 20 minutes, we’ll gather again as a group to share reflections. We’ll then do a second sound walk back to Science World.

Bring along a few supplies to support your documentation that you can easily use while walking. Could be a small sketchbook and some coloured pencils or crayons, or a clipboard, paper and pen.

**Meet outside of Science World (at the concrete benches across from the entrance, adjacent to the bike lanes). The event shows a limit of 10 people, but if it's full and you're keen, please feel free to show up and join in.
