What we’re about
We desire to initiate, create, maintain and explore a newly formed in-person community of Progressive Christian Spirituality Gatherings based in Central New York, in the City of Johnstown, New York, serving regions: Albany, Amsterdam, Gloversville, Johnstown, Mayfield, Broadalbin, Fonda, Fultonville, Perth, Caroga Lake and other communities near by.
Our intentions and purpose in forming this NEW social and spiritual gathering known as Progressive Christian Spirituality Gatherings is to foster and experience the 5 Cs, following:
- Connection - to create and support social & spiritual connections and potential positive friendships.
- Community - to create a sense of community with positive elements.
- Conversations - to have and maintain ongoing spiritual conversations.
- Contribution - to contribute time, energy, gifts, talents, resources, services, insights, shared life experiences, mutuality support, asking questions, and living with questions.
- Collaboration - to create, cultivate and maintain positivity in diverse creative ways.
We are an open gathering community of individuals who identify themselves as followers of Jesus, progressive christian, post modern christian, spiritual humanist, deconstructing or reconstructing christian, former religious fundamentalists, or spiritual free thinkers.
We desire to connect with individuals who have gone through, going through or may go through a religious deconstruction and reconstruction from christian fundamentalism, religious fundamentalism or mainstream evangelicalism.
We are a diverse and inclusive community of men, women and others regardless of ethnicity, age, beliefs, sexual orientation, political affiliations, social affiliations, religious affiliations, non-religious,or secular viewpoints or economic status.
We are not a political group, anti-religious group, or an argumentation debate group.
We desire to be a compassionate hospitable grace-filled community of followers of Jesus that demonstrates grace, peace, love, compassion, mercy, goodness, and being non-discriminative, non-judgemental, non-shaming, and no-abusive towards all peoples.
We desire to be a community that integrates heart, mind, body, soul, spirit, energies, nature, and insights from diverse christian and spiritual traditions and cultures. We do acknowledge and honor the positive elements within ancient Christianity.
We are all God's Children. GOD is LOVE, so therefore, we ask for God's gracious assistance to enable and empower us all to walk in LOVE and PEACE, and to continue to hate injustice and inhumane acts towards human beings. We hate discrimination, oppression, suppression, and violence in any form.
