Boosting Meeting Productivity with Intelligent Technology

Details

Digital transformation is hard. Even in the forward-looking profession of project management, we spend countless hours documenting and distributing meeting notes and action items for our teams and stakeholders.

But what if we could automate these meeting-related processes so that our focus could be applied to higher-value tasks? There are emerging technologies that show potential to boost meeting productivity at the enterprise level that project leaders should harness for our companies and our career growth. These early-stage companies are applying conversational intelligence (CI) and machine learning algorithms to use cases outside the realm of sales and customer interactions.

Our guest, Bruce Gay, will help us understand the possibilities and limits of existing conversational intelligence technologies to boost meeting productivity. We will also discuss lessons learned from piloting a “Conversational Intelligence as a Service” at Bruce’s organization.

About our guest:
Bruce Gay is Director of Program Management at UPMC Enterprises in Pittsburgh, USA. As PMO Lead, he manages a group of project managers supporting a portfolio of product development and technology service deployments. Bruce holds a master's degree in international affairs from George Washington University (GWU) in the USA and has held PMP® certification since 2005.

In 2021, Bruce founded a community of interest called the “Conversational Intelligence Working Group” for project managers to share information on solutions and best practices for improving meeting productivity and task automation. This includes AI-enabled: a) generation and distribution of meeting minutes, b) action Item management/follow-up, and c) searchable meeting insights.

Bruce lives in Pittsburgh, USA with his wife, two daughters, and dog. He is an active volunteer with the PMI Pittsburgh chapter and is their Director of Corporate Sponsorship.

Bruce publishes a popular monthly newsletter on project management and related topics. Sign up for regular access at: www.brucegay.com/signup/
