What we’re about
What We’re About:
Project Rainbow is a free LGBTQ+ workout group where movement meets community and everyone is welcome. We host all-levels workouts, think walks, bodyweight exercises, playful movement, and the occasional dance break. No experience needed, no pressure to be a pro, just show up, move your body, and connect with awesome people. After we sweat a little (or a lot), we hang out, laugh, and build community that lifts each other up.
Who Should Join:
You! Project Rainbow is open to everyone, welcoming all fitness levels, gender identities, sexual orientations, and backgrounds. Whether you're just getting started on your fitness journey, rediscovering your groove, or simply looking for queer joy in motion, you’ll find your place here. Allies welcome too!
Dues or Fees:
Zero. Nada. Nothing. Our workouts and events are always free, because access, joy, and community shouldn’t come with a price tag.
Affiliation:
We’re a grassroots, community-powered group, no big brand, no business ties, just a crew of queer folks and allies creating joyful, inclusive movement spaces. Inspired by the power of connection and the magic of chosen family.

Project Rainbow Workout @ MacGregor Village
MacGregor Village, 101 Edinburgh Dr, Cary, NC, USLEADER (Q), OCTOBER 4TH: STEVE
Everyone starts off as a “friendly new person” (FNP) and then gets a
slightly silly nickname after completing a workout.
What To Expect On Day 1
Whatever your size, shape, fitness, or age, just show up and we’ll be there for you! 🤗
Arrive 5-10 minutes beforehand and look for the shovel flag
(Typically some kind of pride flag waving atop a shovel). We start
exactly on time (most of the time 😜). This will give you time to meet
some folks, stretch, etc.
Each workout has a “Q," or leader for the day. This is just one of the members (pax) who is volunteering to lead the workout for that day. The typical “bootcamp” workout follows a formula like the one below. You’ll usually run a about a mile across 45 minutes.
Shortened version of the Disclaimer.
Warm Up (5 mins)
Thang 1: An exercise set 10-20 mins, like running around a field and doing lower-body/squats at each corner.
Thang 2: Another exercise set 10-20 mins, something different than Thang 1 such as upper body/pushups.
Finisher: Core and stretching for 5 mins.
Name-O-Rama: Everyone goes around and says their name, pronouns, and PR nickname (or FiA/F3 if already named from there). This is the time any FNP are given a PR nickname!
Circle of Trust (COT) with announcements, requests for good vibes/prayers and celebrations. The Q will close with a quote, prayer, encouraging word, etc.
Check out our website for more information and what to expect: projectrainbownation.com
After the workout, we cool down and catch up at Starbucks.
We can't wait to see you there! 😊2 attendees
