Together we will journey, starting from Margaret Atwood's provocative quote:
"You are a woman with a man inside watching a woman. You are your own voyeur."

After introductions, we will do a grounding exercise leading into brief personal journaling (paper and pen provided or bring your own journal) in response to this quote prior to discussion to explore:

  • What is internalized sexism and how does has it shown up in our lives?
  • What is the male gaze and how did we end up under it?
  • What are the sources of these restricting voices?
  • How do they limit us? Benefit us?
  • How do we become more aware of what has built our assumptions about ourselves as women?
  • What are some tools for being more aware? Making change if desired?

By defining and pondering how we have internalized sexism into our identities and self-worth, we can support each other to become more intentional, more free, and more empowered to be who WE choose, as we choose.
