# Applied Games in the North – Play for Sustainability

An event for serious games, not so much to test, but to learn about this scene of applied games. And you can sign up with your project to showcase it it! Free for visitors and participants.

On Friday, November 27, the first Applied Games in the North conference will take place in Groningen, with the theme “Play for Sustainability.” It promises to be an afternoon full of substance, inspiration, play, and networking, where games and play are used as tools to forward sustainability in various fields.

What can you expect? For starters, serious games addressing the energy transition and how it can be structured in a way that is stable for various stakeholders. Examples of how creative technology can make heritage and history accessible and help preserve them. An in-depth look at the power of serious games and their development processes. In addition to completed projects and games, there will also be space for ongoing (research) projects in which building and playing games contributes to insights into topics such as the energy transition and textile supply chains. The scope entails analogue board games as well as digital experiences.

You can register now and participate. The call for content is open! Sign up here. Share what game, research, or project you’d like to showcase or discuss during a roundtable discussion. Don’t wait too long—we’ll do our best to accommodate your project, but spots are limited.
This event is free to attend and participate in, thanks to sponsorship from Hanze and SAGANET. Want to contribute? Aside from playing or sharing content, we’re looking for more sponsors. We want to conclude the conference with a booklet full of great examples of games and play, and we’d like to include our sponsors in it as well.
