Time Regained by Marcel Proust

Details

1st hour:

We'll begin our event with a reading out loud of "Overture" (the first pages of Swann's Way)

Let's discuss their relationship to the opening pages of Time Regained. (pages 3-16, Carter)

Please select a passage from the first 16 pages of Time Regained to connect or contrast with a passage from the Overture and we’ll read them both out loud and discuss our takeaways.

Last line: “Here are the pages that I read before fatigue closed my eyes.”

2nd hour:

Our discussion will focus on unpacking the Goncourt pastiche pages and the narrator’s new perspectives on becoming a different kind of writer.

Let’s compare/contrast how the Goncourt brothers write about the Verdurin Salon vs how Proust via the Narrator writes about the Verdurin Salon (pages 17-32, Carter)

Last line:

“…can it even success in destroying one in a thousand of the oblivions that pile up endlessly?”
