What we’re about
I came here hoping to find a men's bookclub but sadly have found nothing. In fact, bookclubs seem to have become very scarce everywhere.
So, I am proposing a Gay Men's Book Club. My thought is that to begin with, we could meet once a month to discuss whatever book we decide on (or I'd be happy to assign the first one). My favorite genre is fiction, but certainly others could be introduced...biographies, historical, fantasy, etc. I've found over my lifetime that if you pick a really good book, you can often enjoy a genre that you think you'd never be interested in.
I want to leave this closed to gay men because no matter what we'd read, we do have a different world view experiencing life through "lavender colored glasses" from childhood to wherever we are now in our life journey. That colors our perceptions and interpretations of things and I think it would be nice to see what emerges from that.
And of course there is also the social aspect of any group. I know that I'm certainly not overwhelmed with the amount of gay male friends I have in my life. I'd like to find more.
If you are interested in such a group please indicate so. I will not propose a day or time or meeting place for a first meeting until I see that there is enough interest to set something up.
