Personal Medical Decisions & End of Life Planning

- Ethics Committees: what they do and how they can help you??
- Ethical Documents: DNR, Living Will, DPOA, & Palliative care. What are they and should you sign one?
- Physician assisted suicide: Pros & Cons?
This medical ethics discussion will focus on two major areas:
A. Personal medical decision making during one's lifetime to include medical choices, physician interaction, and how to manage treatment options.
B. Will deal with end of life planning and decision making when faced with a terminal condition including a discussion about living wills, DPOA, physician assisted suicide.
A hypothetical medical ethics case will be presented and the group will be invited to function as an ethics committee and make recommendations.

Keith Jantz, MC is retired from 40 years of practicing internal medicine. He served as chair of the Ethics Committee at Research Hospital for 5 years and served as a member of Medical Ethics committees at Research Medical Center and Menorah Hospital for over 10 years.
