Spin and the Quantum Atom

Quantum Mechanics
Spin and the Quantum Atom
presented by our very own Dr. John Millan, PhD
- What attributes do subatomic particles have?
- How does quantum mechanics explain the structure and stability of atoms?
- How does the “spin” quantum property allow for chemistry and therefore allow for our existence?
Quantum mechanics at the subatomic level is truly bizarre and paradoxical. In earlier talks, we covered some of these behaviors: wave-particle duality, quantum entanglement, and quantum tunnelling. But how does quantum mechanics explain the everyday world that we experience? Come and learn about how atoms—the building blocks of matter—are governed by strange rules of quantum mechanics.
When and Where = 7:00PM Fri. 12 September 2025 - Price Chopper, Lenexa, Kansas.

Dr. John Millam, PhD
Dr John Millam has a PhD in theoretical chemistry from Rice University. Theoretical chemistry involves the development and use of computer programs to apply quantum mechanics to problems in chemistry. He currently works as a programmer for Semichem (www.semichem.com). Dr Millam is a Reasons To Believe trained apologist and member of the scholar community.
See you Friday!
